Telescope:
This project was done to teach us about Astronomy and the difference between reflection and refraction. We had to construct a telescope and use it to see certain objects to test our magnification. We had to do many types of lab write ups to show our knowledge and prove that we are the right candidates for the telescope we choose to do.
The telescope that I made is a Newtonian telescope. This telescope is a reflecting telescope, that means that instead of seeing objects through mirrors and an eyepiece. The mirrors give you a clearer image and the eyepiece gives the telescope magnification. We decided to make this type of telescope because we felt that we had a very good idea on my a Keplerian and a Galilean telescope work so we wanted to Learn more about reflection that refraction.
Exhibition:
My job was to create the compass board that shows some of the students Telescope in a creative way. I worked with a group to complete this, I had worked hard along with my group to get this board to look good and have it ready. I learned that patience is very important because without it this exhibition would not look a great as it did. We needed patience so that we can work with others and take time to take a little pride in our work so that we take time to make it look good. I think the time we took working up to exhibition was all worth it at the end because we all came out with really good looking products and we all had a goodtime while doing it.
During exhibition I had surprised myself when I had taken a leadership role on my compass window for my group. I was working with others in my group and it felt strange to have some people rely on me to tell them what to do, I of course was not always taking the leadership role each person in my group had a moment of knowledge of what to do without anyone having
to tell them what to do. Another thing that I had surprised myself with when I had helped the headlamp group by building a manikin head to hold a headlamp for an example to the people that wanted to know how we got these headlamps to work so well. I did not think I had it in me to take an important part of another groups project and had helped them through it.
