humanities Dealt a good hand
Last year while I was attending my previous school, an opportunity presented itself that I couldn't imagine
passing up. this was truly a once in a lifetime experience & opportunity I'd probably never be presented with
again. My school wanted to do a Yosemite trip because they decided that they should have a final
experience for a class that have have been a family since fourth grade. I remember the first friend that I made at
that school, his name was Christian and we were friends because we were both new in the school but his mom
was a teacher there and he had known people at the school before going there and before I knew it, I knew
everybody. Unfortunately time passes by too fast from fourth grade to eighth grade. Everybody attended this
because this was our last two weeks of school so everybody attended .
My class loved road trips but we all could not travel together because we all had to take separate cars. It took us eight hours to get there and it was boys in one car and girls in a different car. I still loved every minute of
it. It was afternoon when we arrived there. The first thing we did when we arrived was set up the tents
and set up the kitchen area. I wasn't too happy with the activities planned on the second , primarily because of the
eighteen mile hike that awaited us up and back down Yosemite falls. There was also another reason. Before we
left for Yosemite , my teachers wanted to be sure we were always careful while hiking that they read us a book
called "Death in Yosemite".I was thinking about everything that we read and people that just wanted to see a
piece of the world had come at a cost, and that was there lives. They talked about how someone drank alcohol
on the trail and threw himself off the cliff thinking it was a joke.
We then started the hike on Yosemite falls early that morning. From the bottom of the mountain It looked easy
enough. I was wrong, There were many ups, downs, and switch backs. I unfortunately was one of the shortest
people in my class. This meant that I had short legs and a short temper. After mile five I was out of breath. We
got to the top of Yosemite falls and it was beautiful. I saw something that made me believe that there was
actually death here. I saw small memorials next to the falls. They all had names on them and pictures so that no
one will forget those who could not make it to the top like others did. Most of the people that I saw at the top of
the falls did not take the time to look at them and pay respects to them but my group and I decided that this was
not right so we stood next to them and had a moment of silence to pay respects.
